CNN: Those two rogue IRS employees might actually be 88

Did anyone really believe the IRS’ claim that its targeting of conservative groups was isolated to a couple of rogue employees in the understaffed, culturally alienated frontier outpost known as the Cincinnati office? CNN is reporting today that the IRS has identified 88 employees who have documents that might be relevant to the House’s investigation into the agency’s singling out of conservative groups for invasive scrutiny.

What is in those documents? House investigators don’t know yet, because the IRS missed its deadline in turning over the information.

Just change a couple of words in this statement from the IRS and write it on your 1040 next year to buy some extra time.

The IRS and Acting Commissioner Danny Werfel are moving aggressively and taking the data requests very seriously. As a precautionary measure, the IRS is casting a wide net to capture any potentially related materials. Our goal is to be exceedingly thorough during this process to ensure we identify any and all pertinent records.
