Krauthammer, Giuliani ponder why Joe Biden given pass for 'chains' comment

Less than two hours after Bob Beckel again dropped the F-bomb live on Fox News Channel’s “The Five,” Charles Krauthammer joined in on “Special Report with Bret Baier,” asking if Vice President Joe Biden’s “back in chains” gaffe today really was a “big effin’ deal.”

Asked if a conservative saying the same words would be given a similar pass, Krauthammer theorized that Biden, having built a career on gaffes, has set the bar so low that no one expects any better from their “crazy uncle in the attic.”

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, appearing on CNBC’s “Kudlow Report,” took the theory a step further, suggesting that the vice president was getting a free pass for other reasons. “I mean, this guy just isn’t bright,” charged Giuliani. “He’s never been bright. He isn’t bright. And people think, ‘Well, he just talks a little too much.’ Actually he’s not very smart.”

Host Larry Kudlow concluded by calling the “back in chains” comment “a new low” and urged the vice president to take it back. But with the campaign backing up Uncle Joe, it’s likely we’ll be hearing the next gaffe before a retraction.
