World Humanitarian Day was created in response to the bombing of the U.N. offices in Baghdad on August 19, 2003. Organizers hope the video will reach 1 billion people. The U.N. says the “I Was Here” theme “is about making your mark by doing something good, somewhere, for someone else.”
