A lot of people on Twitter are continually trying to tell us we don’t hate the mainstream media enough. As bad as they are, they’re unrepentant and never seem to look into a mirror to find out why public trust in the media has cratered.
A lot of people call reporters transcriptionists for the Democratic Party, and in this case, that’s literally true. As we reported Tuesday, Sen. John Fetterman was back in a suit and back on the job:
John Fetterman is incapable of speech or coherent thought. Good job, Pennsylvania. pic.twitter.com/aLQyaHBAsg
— Clay Travis (@ClayTravis) May 16, 2023
As we reported earlier, Washington Post reporter Jeff Stein deleted a tweet quoting Fetterman at the hearing:
Well he deleted the tweet. So here’s the screenshot pic.twitter.com/WTeQo8aIq4
— Andrew Wimsatt 🖐 (@ajwimsatt) May 17, 2023
But wait, he can explain! He wasn’t at the hearing, Fetterman’s office provided him the “quote,” and he never bothered checking the press office’s transcription against the video which was readily available online. As we said, transcriptionist.
Yesterday I tweeted this quote, provided to me by the Senator’s office, without checking it against the video. That was my fault. Though it captured his meaning, I deleted the tweet since some of the words in the quote were inaccurate pic.twitter.com/jkDYYr2EU2
— Jeff Stein (@JStein_WaPo) May 17, 2023
“Though it captured his meaning”? “Some of the words” were inaccurate? They’re not even close.
Translation: I was caught doing PR for the Democratic Senator from Pennsylvania … and plagiarism because I posted a quote without attribution to his office
But other than that . . . @washingtonpost baby!!!!

Regime stenographer.

Stenographer says what?
— 100 Proof 🥃 (@ChampionCapua) May 17, 2023
What is your job again???
— EducatëdHillbilly™ (@RobProvince) May 17, 2023
Does Fetterman pay you to help him?
— Stephe96 (@Stephe96) May 17, 2023
Your lack of curiosity as to the fitness of Senator Fetterman is duly noted.
— Who Died And Made You Queen, Queen?🌻 (@redandright) May 17, 2023
How much did you get paid by his office?
— Jsicka (@jpahel23) May 17, 2023
Translation: literally putting words in the mouth of certain politicians he favors.

Now tell us how hurt your feelings are when people call you and your rag fake news.

The ACTUAL quote: pic.twitter.com/xAfUHfgqG6
— *****jerZboyMediaUSA**** (@jerZboyUSA) May 17, 2023
🤡 “some of the words in the quote were inaccurate” How about you fabricated the entire quote out of thin air and didn’t realize that citizen journalists were sharing the actual clip with the vegetable spinning a word salad for all to see.

The implied ability to form a sentence is what’s not accurate.

“Some of the words”
Like 80% of them were wrong bro.
If 80% of my work was wrong I’d be fired.
— Fifty Shades of Sarcasm (@Fifty_ShadesOfD) May 17, 2023
Quick, what exactly are you paid to do?
“Yesterday I tweeted this quote, provided to me by the Senator’s office, without checking it against the video.”
— Polybius Champion🐂💨 (@PolybiusChamp) May 17, 2023
“Some of the words” lol
The entire quote was manufactured. It wasn’t a light edit. It was, at best, inspired by some of the incomplete thoughts the Senator uttered
— b01dface (@b01dface) May 17, 2023
Jeff, what is it that you think your job is?
— Adam Klein (@stellamydog) May 17, 2023
How many other times has this happened?

"I did not expect to get caught in my stenography." pic.twitter.com/189ecl83eD
— Will Collier (@willcollier) May 17, 2023
Who fed you the fake quote? @AJentleson
— Max. (@MaxNordau) May 17, 2023
So are you going to share what Fetterman actually said in the hearing on the matter?
— Del Gue's hair (@st7v7ns) May 17, 2023
You profess to be a reporter and you don't take a couple minutes to verify Fetterman's words before tweeting them?
— AdamInHTownTX (Not a Biologist) (@AdamInHTownTX) May 17, 2023
A correction would be the actual quote and not sugar-coating your initial tweet with "some of the words were inaccurate" when it was completely off base.
— PassThePopcorn (@Mully516) May 17, 2023
Why don't people trust the media they wondered
— afreeindividual (@afreeindividual) May 17, 2023
How do you know “it captured his meaning?” Do you have access to the inner workings of his mind?
— Chris Jackson (@cj12jackson) May 17, 2023
A lot of us are concerned about the inner workings of his mind, and whether they mesh with the job of being a senator. Did Stein at least approach Fetterman’s office to ask for a quote, or did they just send it to his inbox? How much effort did he put in, exactly?
