During his “major press conference” which turned out to be a sit-down interview with MSNBC, President Joe Biden said the 1,500 active-duty troops being sent to the border weren’t going to perform any law-enforcement duties; they were only there to free up resources in the Border Patrol so that they could more quickly process asylum applications once Title 42 expires and the real surge begins.
As we mentioned in a post earlier, Townhall’s Julio Rosas is in El Paso, where the mayor has declared a state of emergency due to the city being overrun with migrants:
During my time in the camp, many Venezuelans said they were processed/released after illegally crossing the border, not using the CBP One app.
I heard a lot of coughing and sneezing. @RepTonyGonzales said it reminds him of an Afghanistan refugee camp ––> https://t.co/nIKV8V2cj7

Many Venezuelans, huh? When we posted a video the other day of migrants scrambling for supplies from a truck, a lot of people noted that there were a lot of single military-age men crowding out all of the women and children begging for bread, supposedly.
Ali Bradley of NewsNation had a chance to ask DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas why Venezuelans weren’t being removed under the policy he outlined in January.

We talked with multiple migrants who told us this was the case. One group was even sent back to Mexico at least once already after crossing into El Paso—They took a train down to Matamoros and crossed into Brownsville because they heard they could get in there—They were right. That’s where we met. They’re now heading to Austin.
Apparently I’m mistaken though.
TX: Nelson is from Venezuela and has been in Brownsville for 3 days after being processed and released by Border Patrol. He crossed the Rio Grande into Brownsville, Texas with several other men (and it wasn’t the first time).
He shows us his government-issued phone and tells us… pic.twitter.com/iKOvY3z51J

He shows us his government-issued phone and tells us he will be fined $1500 if something happens to it. He says he is only supposed to turn it on to check in with ICE on Thursdays.
He says the CBP One app didn’t work for them so they crossed between the port of entry.
Nelson tells us he doesn’t have family in the U.S. but is hoping to work in Austin.
Carlos is also from Venezuela and doesn’t have any contacts/family here—He also crossed between ports of entry… https://t.co/xnVS4I6rGt

I met men from Venezuela who had already been returned to Mexico once and then swam across the Rio Grande from Matamoros into Brownsville and they were given cell phones and released into the U.S. under what DHS Secretary Mayorkas calls “removal proceedings…”

Which means they’re expected to checkin with ICE weekly and may not see a judge for 2-5 years because of the current backlog.
Because they entered illegally between ports of entry (twice) they’re supposed to be returned to Mexico based on the DHS policy.
The Border Patrol Chief saying they would be swiftly removed 🤔 https://t.co/6tTJFeGrz4

Huh.
And if the administration is going to continue to ignore its own rules regarding restricting asylum claims, then things are going to get much worse after May 11th: https://t.co/xUdOcbqxhf

He lied……to your face.

He lies all the time, without exception!

OMG. He just lies to our faces. To our faces.

I have never seen so many people in one administration stutter. One would believe they are lying.

Remember, Ali. Even though you’re on the border everyday witnessing what is actually happening, the Secretary is always the brightest guy in the room. How’s that working out?
— Charles Marino (@Charles__Marino) May 6, 2023
To claim asylum I thought you ad to claim it in the 1st country you crossed into?
— Retired CDN Military Vet (@CanuckGuy123) May 6, 2023
True.
I wonder what percentages are not showing up for trials.

Go walk down Adams St. In Brownsville and see if you can find anyone who actually has a sponsor…

Biden also said in his “major press conference” that we also desperately need farmers … so by all means, let everyone in. They’ll all work on farms. In Austin.
