As Twitchy reported a couple of days ago, Daniel Perry, a U.S. Army sergeant and Uber driver, was found guilty of murder after he shot into an armed mob that surrounded his car during a Black Lives Matter protest in Austin in 2020. All this time we were told that guns like the AK-47 were “weapons of war” and had no place on the street, but it was apparently OK to have one and to point it at an Uber driver — it was a riot, after all.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott released a statement saying that he was “working as swiftly as Texas law allows” to pardon Perry.

Kurt Bardella, Democratic strategist and Los Angeles Times contributor, sees that as an endorsement of killing blacks.

If you don’t see the connection between the TX Governor pardoning someone who murdered someone participating in a protest about social justice and how that sends the signal that shooting people of color is endorsed by the state, you’re part of the problem.

Community Notes, do your thing:
I see the connection of a corrupt justice system trying to make a point of punishing people for defending themselves against violent protestors.

Not knowing about this situation I decided to look it up in order to find out who was involved and who was shot.
I have officially done more to validate my knowledge about this than Kurt has.

What the hell are you talking about? There were no black people involved in the shooting.

The guy aimed his gun at Perry. Police dropped charges, but Soros funded DA prosecuted anyways. Evidence was also witheld from the jury.
Abbott has the power to pardon. Period.

Are you stupid? Do you know ANYTHING about what happened here?

Kurt I'm glad to see that you have taken the time to make yourself familiar with the basic details of the case, and are not just making a knee jerk statement based on what your political group would likely agree with.

He was railroaded by a partisan DA who refused to allow evidence from the lead investigator of the shooting, which proved it was justified. It was ruled justified and in self defense.

No this is a government solidifying stand your ground. You point a gun at me I’m not gonna ask questions I would double tap you too. This is what happened.

Stop embarrassing yourself, just delete the tweet.

Is this an endorsement of pointing loaded AK-47s at people?

Y’all tried this shit with Rittenhouse. Again, no one involved is black.

OK, so the guy Perry shot was white, but Perry refused to participate in the Black Lives Matter rioting, so obviously he thought the murder of blacks by cops was OK. And by working for his pardon, Abbott is showing he doesn’t care about black lives either.
