NPR TV critic says Chief Twit Elon Musk could have just spent five minutes listening to their content

National Public Radio is still butthurt over Twitter slapping it with the “state-affiliated media” flag. We did a post earlier on Glenn Greenwald’s thread about the matter, which asked the question, “When is the last time NPR did reporting that angered the Biden White House, the FBI, the CIA, the NSA, etc.?” Greenwald also noted that one vocal critic of the “state-affiliated media” descriptor, a self-proclaimed “disinformation expert,” is affiliated with a Department of Defense program.

Eric Deggans is a TV critic and “media analyst” at NPR, which makes him NPR’s version of Brian Stelter. Deggans says that if “Chief Twit” Elon Musk wanted to know if NPR is state-affiliated media, he could have spent five minutes listening to their content first.

Bill Chappell stepped up to the plate to write the story disproving that NPR is state-affiliated media:

NPR officials have asked Twitter to remove the label. They initially assumed it was applied by mistake, NPR spokesperson Isabel Lara said. “We were not warned. It happened quite suddenly last night,” Lara said.

In response to an NPR email for this story seeking comment and requesting details about what in particular might have led to the new designation, the company’s press account auto-replied with a poop emoji — a message it has been sending to journalists for weeks.

A poop emoji is more than NPR deserves.

The full effects of NPR being labeled as state-affiliated media aren’t yet known, but it could reduce NPR’s visibility on the platform. Twitter’s policy states, “In the case of state-affiliated media entities, Twitter will not recommend or amplify accounts or their Tweets with these labels to people.”

Deggans has a point — you could tune into NPR for any five-minute interval during the day and realize it’s state-affiliated media.

“… shall I break out the last 5 massive bills and share with you the hundreds of millions you and PBS received? Or do you want to stop the argument before you get faced?”

Good point.

That’s a needle Chappell tries to thread: NPR only receives about 1 percent of its funding from the government … but it’s a very important 1 percent that we can’t do without.

We’re pretty sure the government didn’t have to ask them to bury the Hunter Biden laptop story.

That’s the sad thing … they probably honestly believe they’re unbiased — why, everyone in the building agrees with their programming.

If you’re a regular NPR listener and think its programming is “centrist,” you need to get out more.
