We skimmed Media Matters senior writer John Knefel’s 5877-word piece on the significant ties Christopher Rufo has to Russ Vought, the Christian nationalist head of the MAGA-aligned Center for Renewing America looking for those “significant ties.” Knefel can’t even place Rufo and Vought in the same room together; their “significant tie” is that they reportedly share the same goals. Probably the most concrete tie comes at the end, which reveals that Rufo worked with @wokal_distance on his “Parent’s Guide to Radical Gender Theory,” and @wokal_distance is a visiting fellow at CRA. Shock: “The two interact regularly on Twitter, praising each other’s acumen and execution.”

How is Media Matters even still around? What do they do besides write hysterical hit pieces? And yet there’s no shortage of media outlets who’ll refer to MMFA as a credible source for their reporting.
