Former DEI director at New College lashes out at Christopher Rufo about zir firing

As Twitchy reported, progressives freaked out when Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis named Christopher Rufo to the New College of Florida’s board of trustees. The Sun-Sentinel has decried DeSantis’ brazen, arrogant, hostile takeover of New College; in other words, he’s trying to turn it into a respectable institution of learning and not an indoctrination center.

In January, DeSantis announced that the state would stop funding for DEI bureaucracies in all state colleges and universities, including New College. The elimination of New College’s Office of Outreach and Inclusive Excellence sent director Yoleidy Rosario-Hernandez packing, and ze lashed out at Rufo about zir firing in the Washington Post.

Rosario-Hernandez spoke with the Washington Post about zir recent termination, and Rufo responded:

Rosario-Hernandez’s “false and inflammatory comments to The Washington Post,” he wrote, “are further confirmation that President Corcoran made the right decision” in terminating Rosario-Hernandez’s employment. Rufo added that he hope this “period of unemployment” would give Rosario-Hernandez “the opportunity to develop real work skills, instead of fomenting hysterical racial grievance narratives.”
