Professional baseball, basketball, and football all heartily embraced the Black Lives Matter movement, but then there was hockey, which — let’s face it — is a white man’s sport. We learned in 2020 that there was such a thing as the Hockey Diversity Alliance, and the HDA is trying very hard to make hockey as woke as the NBA. Sure, the NBA has painted Black Lives Matter on the court, so the HDA is suggesting temporarily changing the blue stripe on the ice to black … for one thing. Another suggestion: Use hockey rinks as polling places.
Gov. Ron DeSantis is doing a great job policing his state, and he warned the NHL about its Pathway to Hockey Summit, a job fair that was closed to whites and men. The now-deleted LinkedIn posting read: “Participants must be 18 years of age or older, based in the U.S., and identify as female, Black, Asian/Pacific Islander, Hispanic/Latino, Indigenous, LGBTQIA+, and/or a person with a disability. Veterans are also welcome and encouraged to attend.” That’s nice that veterans were given a chance.

Florida’s Voice reported that DeSantis’ office had warned the NHL that “discrimination of any sort is not welcome in the state of Florida, and we do not abide by the woke notion that discrimination should be overlooked if applied in a politically popular manner or against a politically unpopular demographic.”
Seems like I should apply and see if I am discriminated against.
