Crypto-fraudster, FTX founder, and Democrat mega-donor Sam Bankman-Fried was arrested in the Bahamas just a day before he was supposed to appear before the House Financial Services Committee, led by Rep. Maxine Waters, who’d blown him a kiss at an earlier hearing. Before his arrest, Good Morning America’s George Stephanopoulos had interviewed Bankman-Fried to find out what had gone wrong with his company. But not long after, Bankman-Fried was awaiting extradition in a jail in the Bahamas that was described as “not fit for humanity.”
The New York Times is still on top of the story and sent reporters to interview citizens of the Bahamas about Bankman-Fried, and what they learned was that they were more concerned with gang violence on the island.
In the U.S., Sam Bankman-Fried is persona non grata. But in interviews across the Bahamas, residents say that his crimes were hardly comparable to the gang violence of the island, and expressed fears of economic fallout if crypto investors don't return. https://t.co/aUeAnImTbT

Find someone that loves you as much as the NYT loves SBF 😂☠️

Great article. You guys are doing great.

"The black people's crimes are way worse than the white guy's crimes" is quite the take, @nytimes.

You can't tell from the piece, but crime in the Bahamas fell 13% in 2021 and has steadily declined for the last several years. (14 grafs in the author vaguely gestures to this). And still, these descriptions of non-white regions as apocalyptic by default aren't going anywhere.

Shameless

I know NYT didn’t just use the word “sympathy” to describe feelings towards a criminal mastermind.
— Kyle Hill (kaleazy)🎄 (@kaleazy) December 27, 2022
He is literally a criminal
— George Geddes (@GeorgeCGed) December 26, 2022
This piece is a disgrace to the NYT and an insult to real journalists.
SBF stole billions from innocent victims. No respectable paper should print that putting him in jail "doesn't make any sense."
Also the lede falsely insinuates that crime pervades the Bahamas. For shame.

Just because you can write a story, doesn’t mean you should.
Some stories you just don’t write. And it’s hard to think of a clearer example atm.

You actually went to journalism school and took out student loans all to end up doing this, what a complete and utter waste of a life

Literally the dumbest worst stuff is printed by you every day now.

How does a fake media outlet simp this hard for one person. Incredible.

“I think he has a good heart”
lmao at this cringe piece

The giant smokescreen is lifting. You’re exposing yourselves and the normies are finally seeing. I, for one, thank you for your unabashed and transparent bias being on display for all to see.

Well, at least Bankman-Fried wasn’t in a violent gang shooting people, so he can’t be that bad.
