First, keep in mind that both Rick Wilson and Ana Navarro call themselves veteran GOP strategists, so this could be anybody talking to Robert Costa, CBS News’ chief election and campaign correspondent. Still, this strategist says that several 2024 contenders “smell blood” in the water around Donald Trump, who’s been the first to officially declare for 2024 (we’re still waiting on Biden’s handlers to make up his mind). It’s true that Govs. Glenn Youngkin and Ron DeSantis are watching and waiting, but check out the others who think they can make the case that America has had enough of Trump. Of course, Rep. Liz Cheney is on the list; David Frum said his friend told him he doesn’t see how anybody but Cheney could run against Trump in 2024.

If their name isn’t Trump or DeSantis, they have a 0% chance of being the nom.
Unless Mitch, Mittens, & the rest of the Surrender Caucus find a way to procedurally rule both of them out.
