We just recently looked at the published academic works of Yoel Roth, Ph.D., Twitter’s former Head of Trust & Safety. Christopher Rufo called them “wild,” and they certainly were Grindr-intensive … not that there’s anything wrong with that. We just kind of find it hard to believe you can earn a doctorate in communications writing about a gay hook-up app.
An old tweet from Roth is making the rounds today, but first, we want to highlight a complaint from California State Senator Scott Wiener:
Yes we’re aware of the grift you’re running with Weiss & company to justify letting Nazis & other bigots back on the platform & giving them basically free reign. You don’t need to remind us. https://t.co/OT0KOaJR5K
— Senator Scott Wiener (@Scott_Wiener) December 10, 2022
One of Wiener’s big legislative goals is lowering the age of consent: to consent to the COVID-19 vaccine, and to consent to sex with minors. He just didn’t want gay men who hook up with minors slapped with the “sexual predator” label. Wiener’s legislation didn’t legalize pedophilia; according to the AP, it just relaxed sex offender registry requirements: “Advocates say the bill makes existing California law more inclusive for the LGBTQ community.”
So it’s interesting that as Wiener is complaining about Nazis on Twitter, this old tweet from Roth would surface:
Can high school students ever meaningfully consent to sex with their teachers? http://bit.ly/bbpH68

This explains a lot

Looks like Yoel is arguing in favor of children being able to access adult Internet services in his PhD thesis: pic.twitter.com/1NiBohjhMQ

It’s worth considering how “the current generation of popular sites of gay networked sociability might fit into an overall queer social landscape that increasingly includes individuals under the age of 18.”
This guy was in charge of policing "Hate speech."
Trump was banned. But this… This was fine.

This tweet just clarified why the term "groomer" was considered "hate speech" on Twitter…

No.

This is the guy that had ongoing meetings with the FBI. Really makes you think.

Aren't you glad you asked?

Out there grooming before it was a thing.
Impressive.

Now we know why they may have been so sensitive towards the term “groomer”

“Meaningfully”? They are kids. Teachers who have sex with kids should be in jail.

This really didn't age well…🤔

Trust and Saftey huh

We can see why Wiener might be angry that Roth is no longer moderating content at Twitter.
