TPM's Josh Marshall asked who won the 2000 election and doesn't seem happy about it

It’s obvious now that the January 6 select committee has one mission: to ensure that Donald Trump can’t run for office again. The committee was originally formed to answer questions like how the Capitol riots happened, but they already have their answer to that: President Donald Trump incited the crowd to riot at the Capitol Building during his speech.

The committee could do some good by looking into why so many people believed the election was stolen, but that question’s off the table. Ironic, then, that committee member Rep. Jamie Raskin can be seen on video questioning the results of the 2000 election and trying to disqualify electoral votes for Donald Trump in 2017. Raskin was on of the Sunday shows this week explaining how one of the hallmarks of a fascist party is not accepting the results of elections that don’t go their way.

Talking Points Memo founder Josh Marshall was asked recently who won the 2000 election, and the question seemed to make him cranky.

But we’re not talking about insurrections, we’re talking about 2000.

No conspiracy theories? Remember how the Diebold voting machines were rigged to change votes to George W. Bush? Democrats refused to accept the results of the 2004 election too.
