It’s obvious now that the January 6 select committee has one mission: to ensure that Donald Trump can’t run for office again. The committee was originally formed to answer questions like how the Capitol riots happened, but they already have their answer to that: President Donald Trump incited the crowd to riot at the Capitol Building during his speech.
The committee could do some good by looking into why so many people believed the election was stolen, but that question’s off the table. Ironic, then, that committee member Rep. Jamie Raskin can be seen on video questioning the results of the 2000 election and trying to disqualify electoral votes for Donald Trump in 2017. Raskin was on of the Sunday shows this week explaining how one of the hallmarks of a fascist party is not accepting the results of elections that don’t go their way.
Talking Points Memo founder Josh Marshall was asked recently who won the 2000 election, and the question seemed to make him cranky.
Incredible work by the RNC to find a 2003 (!) clip of Jamie Raskin saying that the 2000 presidential election was stolen. https://t.co/r7hXAj6KVl pic.twitter.com/0uo57szWWM

lol at first I thought you were stupid but then I realized you’re just a lying degenerate. My bad.

Who won the 2000 election, Josh?
— max (@MaxNordau) September 6, 2022
the Supreme Court intervened to stop the counting. That gave Bush Florida’s electoral votes and the presidency. No insurrections, no conspiracy theories, no repeat sedition. Easy to answer. we know you know the difference. just embrace the lying degenerate thing. It suits you.

But we’re not talking about insurrections, we’re talking about 2000.
This is not an answer to the question of who won the 2000 election, Josh. https://t.co/1hEbRMONRs

Notice that Marshall, 22 years later, still will not say that Bush legitimately won the 2000 presidential election. These guys were trafficking in this sort of thing for two decades before "Stop the Steal."
(That's even before you get to the mischaracterization of Bush v Gore). https://t.co/lmzKMCmfbn

Look no further than this thread if you're wondering how election denialism (the left's term) was rooted into the body politic.
Hint: it was libs and their crusade, which continues to this day, to delegitimize the 2000 election. https://t.co/HTvuRm22FB

No, the Supreme Court intervened to stop the Florida Supreme Court from stealing the election for Gore. Stop being an election denier. https://t.co/rOuSC4yyXG

Been 22 years and bro can’t say that Bush won https://t.co/9g8lspTOpO

Josh is being a threat to democracy by denying that Bush won the election in 2000.
I didn't write the rules. Biden did.
Josh is an election denier. https://t.co/OapZ9oq7Nd

Refusing to accept the legitimate result of an election is an act of terrorism. Someone arrest Josh and throw him into a gulag. https://t.co/56MnER2nZm

Here’s proof that election denial doesn’t end American democracy… unless maybe it’s a slow death, started by these guys in the early 2000’s? 🤔 https://t.co/BOqBG1IecT

Jan 6th was the latest step in a slide down the slippery slope started by the Democrats in 2000. They have continued to try to deletimize every Presidential election since, that did not go their way. And they *still* have not learned a damn thing. https://t.co/B1ir30BNwg

Can’t quite bring himself to answer the question directly. https://t.co/Krm2ieIhZV

Psssst, the Dems have been spouting wacko conspiracy theories about election results for decades https://t.co/m9Wl3xbrgV
— Steven 🇺🇸🇮🇹🇻🇦 (@SFlipp) September 6, 2022
No conspiracy theories? Remember how the Diebold voting machines were rigged to change votes to George W. Bush? Democrats refused to accept the results of the 2004 election too.
