We’re seeing a whole lot of love in the media for January 6 select committee member Rep. Liz Cheney but not so much love from the people of Wyoming. Some Democrats have become big fans, while others are tolerating her for now but still don’t trust a Cheney. CNN White House correspondent John Harwood wondered if Liz might be remembered as the most consequential political figure in the Cheney family and decided to go right to presidential historian Michael Beschloss.

These people are so eager to whitewash and minimize the numerous crimes of Bush/Cheney in part because they want to depict Trump as a singular evil, but also because it's their friends, colleagues, and sources responsible for those crimes, ones they themselves often supported. https://t.co/LzgBxiJQe1

I mean, it appears that the history profession is riddled with liars, activists, plagiarists, hacks, and mental sluggards, so I'd say the chances are better than even. https://t.co/5TtJJjXAHI

No, the hearings are 100% about neocons trying to reconquer the Republican Party from the people who actually represent the voters. https://t.co/LdbuwcYLJp

"As a historian would you please legitimize my myopic ignorance of both history and current events?"
Which Beschloss does, of course. https://t.co/qnYYYEcVKS

The people in Harwood’s replies are certain of it, and they’re not even sure Liz Cheney’s career is over. She might run for Senate after this and have an even more consequential role in American history.
