There’s more to this thread by Jill Filipovic, but this tweet is the one getting the most attention. From the side that has replaced women with “birthing persons” is the claim that “unborn child” is an Orwellian term that just makes it impossible to discuss human existence with the necessary complexity. Filipovic asks that journalists please use more scientifically accurate and much more advanced words like “embryo” and “fetus”; as in, “All her friends got together to throw Jill a fetus shower.”
"Unborn child" is another one of these Orwellian terms designed to short-circuit our ability to think and speak about human existence and life with necessary complexity; the point is to use language as a vehicle for replacing reality with right-wing orthodoxy.

"Unborn child" is about the most straightforward, truthful, scientifically sound language imaginable. The definition of "pregnant" is "having a child or young developing in the uterus." Far from "right-wing orthodoxy," this has been the definition going back to biblical times. https://t.co/MLLaEmG9Qx

These are the people who want to tell you men can get pregnant. https://t.co/DUmnlSC04M

Jill wants us to start talking about "fetus bumps", "fetus showers", and about a woman being "with fetus". You know, to avoid using Orwellian terms. (Oh and in the tweet before the one below she claims that a prenatal child with a four chambered heart pumping blood has no heart.) https://t.co/GlGGZvTmLN

Kinda like "pro-choice" is one of those Orwellian terms designed to replace individual thought with groupthink that mandates the only real choice is abortion, not life. The point is to use language as a vehicle to replace other options with left-wing orthodoxy. https://t.co/clajU1f2ni

What's Orwellian is dehumanizing innocent human beings who are not yet born in order to kill them. https://t.co/SSUevJ3owo

"Clump of cells" is another one of these Orwellian terms designed to short-circuit our ability to think and speak about human existence and life with necessary clarity; the point is to use language as a vehicle for replacing reality with Progressive orthodoxy. https://t.co/qsIyT1hEfp

"unborn child" is a dictionary-correct use of the terms and accurately describes what is being discussed, neither of which can be said of pro-choice euphemisms like "reproductive health".
Their fight with the terminology is just a proxy for their fight with reality. https://t.co/fGoDo0jup8

Using vocab to strip the humanity from people is a super fun exercise in depravity. https://t.co/EoiGpbsCEP

Remember the doctor who told Rep. Mike Johnson that “What makes a person a human being is them being born … That’s why we have birthdays.” Or the abortion advocate who wouldn’t make a distinction between a baby who’s one hour old and one “8 inches further up the birth canal.” If we follow Filipovic’s direction, we wouldn’t use the term “baby” ever until it was delivered. “What makes a person a human being is them being born.”
If obvious truth is "right-wing orthodoxy", well then, call me a right winger.
Other Orwellian terms: women, mother, male, sexual dimorphism, objectivity, truth. https://t.co/j7ZHAcaLgg
