Young people tell their gender transition (and de-transition) stories to mark #DetransAwarenessDay

We’d heard all about International Women’s Day, but we weren’t aware someone had put something together for March 12 called Detrans Awareness Day. This is the day for those who underwent gender transition to some degree and then changed back. We’re old enough to remember when Target pulled Abigail Shrier’s “Irreversible Damage: The Transgender Craze Seducing Our Daughters” from its online selection, perhaps after one person complained on Twitter (they added it back). ACLU lawyer Chase Strangio said that stopping the distribution of “Irreversible Damage” was “100% a hill I will die on.” He lost that battle.

Anyway, here are a couple of posts marking #DetransAwarenessDay that are getting a lot of attention.

Of course there are those explaining that most who detransition do it because they’re not accepted by society and society doesn’t provide enough support. But that doesn’t apply to any of the above cases. Activists: It can be possible for someone to regret transitioning. Listening to these people for one day seems fair.
