As Twitchy reported, Sen. Ted Cruz earlier Tuesday asked the FBI’s Jill Sanborn about Ray Epps, who can be seen on video encouraging people to break into the Capitol on January 6. Sanborn said she was aware of Epps, but couldn’t answer whether Epps was a fed or whether the FBI or any confidential informants participated in the January 6 “Stop the Steal” rally.
Now that that’s out in the open, a spokesperson for the January 6 Select Committee, which isn’t biased at all, says the committee interviewed Epps and he assured them that he was not working for the feds.
A) 1/6 Cmte spox: The Select Committee is aware of unsupported claims that Ray Epps was an FBI informant based on the fact that he was on the FBI Wanted list and then was removed from that list without being charged. The Select Committee has interviewed Mr. Epps.

B) 1/6 Cmte spox: Mr. Epps informed us that he was not employed by, working with, or acting at the direction of any law enforcement agency on January 5th or 6th or at any other time, and that he has never been an informant for the FBI or any other law enforcement agency.

A transcript of that interview would be a very interesting read.
This has a very bad odor as does our Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Okay I'll bite – then why is the guy most culpable with incitement of a riot not being charged with any crime exactly? That'd be a pretty amazing oversight for an incident with 700+ arrests.

Why was he removed from the list? Why wasn't he arrested? Any congressman who doesn't know that answer and considers the matter closed without knowing that answer is a partisan political hack.
— SunsetLament (@SunsetLament) January 11, 2022
Who was present at that interview?
— Claire Mahoney (@TaggertGirl) January 11, 2022
So, we should be be comfortable with that feedback and forget about it? Why didn’t Sanborn respond to Cruz with that justification?

If that is true release the transcripts of the interview. Also why wasn't he arrested?
— starryjazzytrumpwon (@starryjazzy13) January 11, 2022
Where is the transcript?
Why have they barely made this announcement?
It's amusing how the same media that said any mention about Epps is conspiracy, is now saying, "Epps was interviewed and investigated!" A bizarre contradiction.
— Steven 🇺🇸 (@SirStevenKJ) January 11, 2022
It is, isn’t it?
Then why is he free when others are still in jail? His involvement is clear to see on video.
— Will T (@cosmicdebris65) January 11, 2022
Seriously? The highly partisan congressional committee, assures you the FBI (less credible than the CDC) assures them, thy never heard of Epps and you think that’s just fine?
— Grumpy ن (@GrumpyinNY) January 11, 2022
No one believes the Select Committee. Then if he is neither an asset of the FBI nor investigated by as per the select committee then why did the FBI say they cannot talk about ongoing investigations? Do you not see how stupid this makes the J6 Committee AND the FBI look?

If this were true he would have been arrested and behind bars with the rest of them for inciting violence.

Tucker Carson aired the video of Ray Epps yelling for the crowd to go into the capitol & encouraging them to break the law. The crowd yelled "No. No. No". This man did far more than many who were arrested. Why wasn't he arrested? You have no good answer to that.
— Jane Spillane (@jane_spillane) January 11, 2022
So a guy with a horned helmet is escorted into the capitol by capitol police and is held without bail and then sentenced to 40 months. But a guy that was inciting a riot for two days walks scot free? And he couldn't possibly be a fed/informant? Smell fishier than a chum bucket!
— Dark Backward (@18is9) January 11, 2022
Did they ask him or accuse him of insurrection for directing people to storm the capital? I'd like to see transcripts of this so called interview.

They’ve arrested grandmothers for “parading” illegally. So the FBI is aware of Epps, and the select committee has interviewed him … why?

Update:
Committee member Rep. Adam Kinzinger says, “Sorry crazies.”
One more @tedcruz conspiracy down. Ray Epps has cooperated and is nothing but a Jan 6 protest attendee, in his own words. Sorry crazies, it ain’t true. pic.twitter.com/UAcRMOCpRw
— Adam Kinzinger (@AdamKinzinger) January 11, 2022
A protester, perhaps. Even if he is, he is clearly on video inciting and instigating the crowd.
People have been in jail for a misdemeanor trespassing charge for a YEAR.
Why not Ray Epps?
I eagerly await your response. https://t.co/pGMYcBfC6E

Since I know you would advocate for equal protection under the law, @AdamKinzinger, you will have to explain this clear discrepancy in the basic right of every citizen.
