As Twitchy reported earlier, President Biden’s nominee to head the ATF reiterated his desire to see a ban on AR-15s in a response to a question from Sen. Ted Cruz. We think it was after the Pulse Nightclub shooting in Orlando in 2016 that the AR-15 really became demonized; more than a few journalists purchased them so they could write about how easy it was to get one. One reporter even test-fired an AR-15 at the range, where the “horrifying” act and the noise and the smoke gave him “temporary PTSD.”
We see this question asked a lot, and it always gets answered. Army vet David Weissman has a blue-check for reasons not made clear in his Twitter bio, but he is next in line to ask, “why do civilians need AR-15s?”
Enlighten me, why do civilians need AR 15s?

Because it's every citizen's right. It's the Constitution, not the Needstitution.
Also, it's a civilian weapon. It's even manufactured by several companies in Germany for the civilian market.
That being said, even the EU knows it's a civilian rifle. https://t.co/GGh23NFTsQ

Once again, needs are irrelevant to rights. A large majority of freedoms and rights would vanish if they were decided based on need.

CZ Every answer to this is ignorant and ridiculous.
It's a trick question, of course. Why do you need freedom of the press, or freedom of religion? Same answer: because the alternatives are horrible. https://t.co/a7jKkzCF9W
