USA Today reports this week that 13 cities and one county in California (of course it’s California) have enacted new zoning codes encouraging or requiring new construction to be all-electric. That means no more running natural gas lines to new dwellings. This time the climate change warning comes from Kitchn:
It Might Be Time to Get Rid of Gas Stoves in Order to Fight Climate Change https://t.co/HHuznlfX5s pic.twitter.com/oe1J0eaJc1

Really, I can’t think of a single modern appliance that somehow commits the mortal sin of adding carbon dioxide to the atmosphere. So do all of we humans when we exhale. The cult condemns, as a sin, the fact that we exist at all.

Use what in place ? Firewood stoves ? How do they think majority of the electricity is generated ? A hamster running on a wheel ? ?
— AspiringObjectivist (@RandianJustice) November 13, 2019
And replace them with what? Electric ones that are powered by means of fossil fuel powered electric power plants?
— Rick (@rickytwalsh) November 13, 2019
And then they came for my grill.

Well, then I definitely won’t. If that’s why. Because every argument that says “climate change” really is about the level of ability of government to control everybody. As though a gas stove matters with India and China out there.

"California, where fires have raged up and down the state"… They do realize that gas stoves, furnaces, water heaters, and fireplaces all reduce the need for long distance electricity transport via dangerous high voltage lines, right?
— Ava Fremont (@AvaFremont) November 13, 2019
Sure we will just build some new gas fired power plants to provide the electricity for the new ones.
Yeah, that will help…
— Rank Badjin (@badjin_rank) November 13, 2019
No. Gas stoves are way more efficient than electric stoves. And cause way less longterm emissions.
— ☠Alexis☠ (@AgoristAlexis) November 13, 2019
Direct combustion at the point of use rather than long distance transmission of electricity to create resistance heat energy that loses power at ever step and over every foot of length

I see the author slept through science class.
— R. Daniel Paddock (@UndeadDan) November 13, 2019
Ummmm, electric stoves, besides being far worse to cook on, are less efficient. The electricity has to be generated, often by burning natural gas, sometimes by burning coal. Then that has to be transmitted over a great distance, where power is lost.
— Frank's Head (@ftdatl) November 13, 2019
One great thing about gas stoves and ovens is that even in a power outage you can cook. It’s also a very simple system that needs to be replaced less often.
— whosyourmedic (@mileslaw2) November 13, 2019
Which is PRECISELY why they want it gone. the very idea of independence is dangerous
— Rani ~ Science Skeptic ? (@MilitaryRosary) November 13, 2019
This will trade one energy source for another- coal versus nuclear versus natural gas. This shell game drives up costs for the poor and tosses perfectly fine appliances into landfills.
— Eye on the Sky Mama (@MamaMaddox) November 13, 2019
(Gas stoves by every measure are far more efficient & environmentally friendly than their induction alternatives.)

These people would have us living in the stone age and it still wouldn’t be enough?

I’m not eating bugs.
I’m not getting rid of my stove.
If I go vegetarian, it’ll be because I’m hindu – not because of climate change.Fork off.
