If at first you don't succeed: Media Matters organizing protest outside Fox News Wednesday

What is it exactly that Media Matters does again? Because now the organization is going full activist and organizing a protest outside Fox News in New York Wednesday over comments host Tucker Carlson made years and years ago to shock jock Bubba the Love Sponge on his radio show.

In case you missed it, Carlson kicked off his top-rated prime time show Monday night by saying that he has the backing of Fox News and will never bow to the mob (much to the chagrin of CNN’s Brian Stelter). Here’s a link to his opening monologue:

PJ Media is reporting that Media Matters isn’t content with another boycott effort; according to their website, the so-called media watchdog group is organizing a protest outside of Fox News headquarters in Manhattan Wednesday:

Now is the time to make our voices heard. Sponsoring Fox News is a choice. When companies advertise on the network, they support bigotry, rank propaganda, and dangerous conspiracy theories.

Fox News executives don’t care. They have done nothing to hold their talent accountable for the toxicity that they regularly spew. To the contrary, bigotry and propaganda are encouraged at Fox. Enough is enough.

Media Matters is trying to hit Fox News during “upfronts,” when networks sell advertising for the year ahead — and considering Carlson’s ratings compared to the competition, advertisers would be foolish to go anywhere else.

So now Media Matters isn’t just a progressive watchdog; it’s gone full MoveOn.

We’re certain hall monitors Brian Stelter and Oliver Darcy will condemn this sort of media intimidation.
