We knew the media would rush to provide its analysis of what’s “wrong” with Kanye West, what with him trading tweets with the president and criticizing Barack Obama for doing nothing for Chicago. Still, though, we’re kind of impressed that The Washington Post got something posted so quickly.
Reaching back to West’s praise last weekend of Candace Owens — with whom he has his true beef — The Washington Post’s David Swerdlick explained how West has fallen for the GOP’s worst sales pitch to blacks.
Perspective: Kanye West fell for the worst black Republican sales pitch there is. Here’s why. https://t.co/Ielo81Pisi
— The Washington Post (@washingtonpost) April 25, 2018
So, what is the GOP’s worst black sales pitch? Swerdlick writes:
The worst black Republican sales pitch is the one Kanye West just fell for: Turning Point USA spokeswoman Candace Owens’s one-woman revival of the trope that black Americans are slaves on the Democratic Party plantation. It’s shopworn, defies logic, and mainly highlights the shallow politics of those who subscribe to it.
…
The notion of African Americans as captives is meant to convey that black Republicans are free, while black Democrats, who make up about 90 percent of black voters, are victims of groupthink — which is why the idea appeals so much to West. A defining feature of his career is the degree to which he cherishes, and nurtures, his self-conception as an outside-the-box thinker.
So, West “fell for it” just because he likes so much to see himself as an independent thinker?
They could hit the brakes on all of this but nope.. they are determined to hit the gas. It’s breathtaking to watch. https://t.co/0iBiaPVc8I

You mean that he doesn't want to be a victim to something that happened prior to the start of his very life and chooses to be a victor over that mentality instead?
I know right, that's the worst ideology to adhere to.— Jiren (@JirenHiiro) April 26, 2018

So @Swerdlick instead of pumping the brakes to understand why Kanye is saying what he is saying, wants to press the accelerator and push the car off the cliff? Are you going to go after @chancetherapper too? https://t.co/59U1FWGPlo https://t.co/JxmXqvxOGs

More liberal fake news click bait. The fact that the left is having a conniption over independent free thinking coming from people they THINK they have a lock on is just evidence of the true racism that is embedded in the minds of the left. https://t.co/5qN30O9hA9

In this hit piece, the author doesn't cite ONE statistic showing the plight of black Americans under Democratic rule in predominantly black precincts.
Not ONE about poverty rates, crimes rates, death rates, homelessness, wage growth, marriage rates, school graduation rates. https://t.co/8FweXeOvIo

Seeing how Joy Reid and the Democratic Party both endorsed Kanye West’s announcement he was running for president in 2020, how long will we have to wait for the think piece on how they “fell for it?”
