NBC News’ Chuck Todd might not have realized it, but President Trump was too busy giving his State of the Union address Tuesday night to check out critiques on Twitter, but maybe he can put some of Todd’s tips into practice starting Wednesday.
The message tonight would be better received if he practiced what he’s preaching tonight about setting “aside our differences.” He won’t get the bipartisan response he’s looking for without some gesture beyond a few prepared words.

No it wouldn't. Whats the matter with you? https://t.co/lptcpAw2Fe

The message would be better received by whom, exactly? Rep. Nancy Pelosi certainly wasn’t going to let her face crack no matter what came out of Trump’s mouth, and the Congressional Black Caucus apparently wouldn’t stand for anything, even record low unemployment.
He wouldn’t have gotten a bipartisan response no matter what he did. But you already know that, @chucktodd. https://t.co/z5E1b7r296

Actually there’s nothing he could do to get House D approval at this point. Literally nothing. https://t.co/vQnkobjQhQ

Chuck Todd gotta Chuck Todd.
Because the Dem leadership is so rational and reasonable and not at all vocal about how they think this President is unlawfully in office. Yawn. https://t.co/ar6VlyTWPl

Your message would be better received if you didn’t work for a network that pretended Matt Lauer was a “cool dude.” https://t.co/rtF9zEbs0s

Todd was really making himself available to the president for some speech coaching:
Not sure it’s a good look to be giving a standing O for keeping GITMO open. Is that something to celebrate? No matter your position, not sure it’s something to cheer. Perhaps refer to it as a “necessary evil”? But clapping and cheering?
— Chuck Todd (@chucktodd) January 31, 2018
Well, Democrats clapped and cheered when Obama promised to shut it down … but that never happened in eight years, did it?
