As Twitchy told you, Matthew Yglesias thought better of a tweet he made earlier Wednesday about Judge Rosemarie Aquilina’s grandstanding and “dunking on the convict from the bench.”
That tweet vanished after enough people apparently convinced Yglesias that Judge Aquilina wasn’t grandstanding but affirming for Dr. Larry Nassar’s victims that they had been wronged and justice was being served. This tweet said it very well:
It's crucial for someone in the position of authority to stand up for these girls, for these girls to hear affirmed how devastating and wrong his actions were, to see him loudly and publicly condemned. The healing that can create cannot be underestimated.

That seems to have been the experience of Olympic gymnast Simone Biles, who tweeted her thanks to the judge Wednesday afternoon.
To Judge Aquilina : THANK YOU, YOU ARE MY HERO
Shout out to all of the survivors for being so brave & speaking like the queens that you are while looking at that monster. He will no longer have the power to steal our happiness or joy. I stand with every one of you ? pic.twitter.com/b5SMmjZgeW

I am walloped by the scope of the abuse and overcome with the power of these women's collective voices and the judge who heard them. https://t.co/ImdjerBswD

She did it for them….for the victims so those of you who thought she was too mean to a rapist can just take a seat in the back, way in the back. https://t.co/AbeYDmOpu4
