We’d wager this is happening in more places than just Massachusetts, but Easthampton High School is in the spotlight for considering eliminating the term “freshmen” and replacing it with the more gender-inclusive “first-year students.”

WKRC reports:

Easthampton High School wants to change the term to “first year students” to be more gender inclusive.

The change was recommended by a Gender and Sexuality Alliance Group at the school. The group went through the school’s handbook and came up with suggestions on how the language could be more gender neutral.

No word yet on if the school plans to change its restroom signs to “With Urinals” and “Without Urinals” to keep from being gender binary.
