Just how many shotguns has Vice President Joe Biden sold since being named to lead the White House’s task force on gun violence? During a Google+ “fireside chat” in January, Biden advised a questioner to buy a shotgun and some shells to keep people away following a natural disaster like an earthquake, where shifting tectonic plates would make an AR-15 too difficult to aim.
As if to prove he wasn’t just drunk, Biden repeated the advice during a Facebook chat, telling a woman a shotgun would be easier to aim, but never mind aiming: two blasts into the air would deter any intruder. Still not convinced you need a shotgun? Biden sat down with Field and Stream’s Anthony Licata to talk firearms and repeated his claim from the Google+ chat. “Well, you know, my shotgun will do better for you than your AR-15, because you want to keep someone away from your house, just fire the shotgun through the door,” Biden recounted.
