Twitter was buzzing yesterday over a photo of Democrat Rep. Steve Cohen of Tennessee “creep-tweeting” during the president’s state of the union address. The mystery deepened when the tweets, reportedly to a Texas State University co-ed, disappeared.

Cohen’s office explained that the young woman was the daughter of a longtime friend, but Luke Russert has some information that makes the “I love you” tweets a little less creepy, but just as mysterious. Russert says Cohen has told him the young woman is actually his daughter, whom he only recently met.

For now, it seems we’ve swapped one scandal with another scandal of sorts. Couldn’t our legislators just surprise us with a balanced budget or something for a change?
