In case you missed it, last night CNN aired a video of an “up-close and personal look at an AR-15” featuring CNN military analyst Mark Hertling, a retired Lieutenant General.
During the video, Hertling says he’s going to shoot the AR-15 in “full semi-automatic” mode.

After receiving flak from gun industry professionals, Hertling decided to clarify his point of view.

For all those critiquing my phrase “full semi automatic,” you are correct. I was attempting to inform the crew that I was going from “single shot” to continuous trigger and rapid trigger pull using the semiautomatic capability. My apologies…but perhaps you’re missing the point.

Apparently pointing out his mistake is now deflecting.
The gun festish bunch uses jargon as a way to divert the issue.
— Ben Herndon (@BenHerndonLA) February 27, 2018
It’s not diverting the issue.
Terminology is important. Know why? Because the average American doesn’t have a deep understanding of firearm terminology and mechanics. Making sure they know the difference is important because it can and does impact support for proposed policy changes.
Sir, these are the same chuckle heads screaming that there are no such things as assault rifles. Lexicon is all they have at this point.
— Witch Foolish (@Mr_Black_Beard) February 27, 2018
No, we’re the ones who are saying that an assault weapons ban is stupid when small changes to a firearm, like changing a grip, can make a gun go from illegal to perfectly legal and vice-versa.
They love to split hairs about guns. That is why i call them tactical carbines and not assault rifles. I will call them battle rifles as well.

It’s not splitting hairs by any means.
Yet you're still wrong. A semi-automatic rifle, General, does not have continuous trigger pull capabilities. By definition semi-automatic means one squeeze = one shot. Continous fire is an automatic mechanism. You cannot have a continous fire on a semi-auto setting. Officers..SMH

BAM.

Are you talking about a semi-auto? Because what you said makes no sense.
There is no 'going from "single shot" to continuous trigger & rapid trigger pull using the semiautomatic capability' All you did was pull the trigger faster & looked all Hollywood. There's no switch 2 turn other than Safe to Semi…and That's why NCOs are in charge of training.
— Opps I did it again (@BigDaddyE68) February 27, 2018
He definitely did go straight Hollywood. It was so unrealistic.
Problem is you just like Evy Poumpouras making these same "mistakes" misleading people about what is Full-auto vs Semi-auto when on liberal leaning TV spots. Did Virginia Tech shooter needs this capability? Navy yard shooter? It's not the type of firearm.
— Andrew (@drewsfitness) February 27, 2018
Totally unsat, General. Your use of that incredibly misleading term only fuels the liberals attempts to infringe upon our rights. What the hell were you thinking? We're not missing the point, you are! For shame.
