Former NFL head coach and current NBC sports analyst Tony Dungy is under fire from the oh-so-tolerant left again. His crime this time? Insufficient apology for a deleted tweet.
This past week I posted a tweet that I subsequently deleted. I issued an apology but not everyone saw it. So I am reposting my apology here. As a Christian I want to be a force for love to everyone. A force for healing and reconciliation-not for animosity. pic.twitter.com/esew5wjUyD

The backstory on this appears to be that Dungy responded to a tweet from the The Daily Wire, in which he suggested that some schools are providing litter boxes for students who identified as cats.
From Sports Illustrated:
Dungy came under fire this week for posting a controversial tweet from his personal account that promoted anti-transgender rhetoric. It claimed that school districts across the country were “putting litter boxes in school bathrooms for students who identify as cats.” This myth has been widely debunked, including by NBC News and PolitiFact.
The tweet came in response to a video from TheDaily Wire showing Minnesota state representative Sandra Feist advocating that menstrual products be placed in boys’ school bathrooms across the state.
Here’s a stand-alone screenshot of the apology Dungy shared:
Seems fairly straightforward, yes?
Not to some people.
Why was it deleted?

“I responded to it in the wrong way” seems pretty clear, so we’re not sure why Rex is asking this question.
And this tweeter seems to be reacting to an entirely separate issue:

That remark is as unhelpful as a Tom Scholz lawsuit, Massé. We can't make "everything about everything every time."

The idea that Dungy would apologize for his remarks at the March For Life is actually quite laughable. Sounds like someone needs to do their research.
Fortunately there are also plenty of folks who understand the concept of extending grace:

People are so quick to attack and judge a Christian when they make a mistake. As a Christian myself, I'm so thankful we don't have to earn his love by doing everything right. His forgiveness and teachings through life experiences and mistakes are how we grow in him. God Bless!

Forgiveness is the Christian way. Those who are will remember that.

We’ve also seen a lot of tweets advising Dungy to not apologize, and while we do agree that apologies seem to mean nothing to the woke mob, we also believe that apologies should never be about appeasement. Tony Dungy spoke from his heart in that tweet, and it should be admired, not vilified.
