There are a great many things wrong and maddening about trans activism: the erasure of women, the blatant misogyny, the discrimination against women and girls in our sports and safe spaces, and the threats leveled towards those of us who don't police our thoughts and speech to appease the trans activist crowd.
But of all the things wrong with the activism, the worst is this: the non-trans 'allies' who pushed trans ideology the hardest will never be held accountable for the absolute damage they've wrought.
For years now, those activists have told mentally ill and confused men and women that the 'solution' to their problems is to take puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and to have radical sex change surgery. They warned that denying such care to 'trans' individuals would lead to suicide. It turns out the opposite is true: suicide risk increased twelvefold following 'gender-affirming surgery.'
And as more detransitioners start speaking out (and getting attacked by the trans activists for it), and the horrors of such 'care' are exposed to sunlight, the pro-trans activists will try to wash their hands of it all (and will likely place the blame for the fallout on those of us who've opposed this ideology from the start).
Such an ideology has claimed another trans life, and contrary to what this X user says, 'trans rights' and 'discrimination' had nothing to do with his suicide:
This is why trans rights are so important and why discrimination needs to be stopped.

Here's more from the Daily Mail (emphasis added):
A transgender bus driver took her own life by jumping in front of a train after colleagues kept referring to her as male.
Ava Michal Hudson, 27, died on August 7 last year on her way to work at the Chicago Transit Authority, while in her uniform.
She didn't leave a note and gave no indication she was suicidal before suddenly leaping to her death, just four days after attending her brother's wedding.
...
Transition costs were expensive, running to $875 a month according to a 2022 court petition to legally change her name, plus more for counseling.
Her $61,000 bus driver salary finally allowed for expensive procedures and gave her financial independence for the first time.
...
But the job never quite fit - both literally, with a boxy uniform that led to passengers innocently calling her 'sir', and her isolation in the role.
Several times, first in March 2024, she was reprimanded for failing to adhere to strict sick day policies - and in both reports supervisors referred to her as a man.
Another report on non-paying customers on her route used 'he' and 'him' pronouns to refer to Hudson.
Hudson appeared to face the various infractions alone, with no record of a union representative on the paperwork, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
She never once made a written complaint, unlike at least two other transgender CTA employees.
...
Though these cases exist and CTA has gender identity in its anti-discrimination policy, Hudson's family and friends said she didn't know any other transgender workers at the company, which she found isolating.
Her family point to a traumatic brain injury cause [sic] by a fall during gymnastics in her sophomore year of high school as the start of her struggles.
The Daily Mail is complicit in this abuse, too, as noted by the use of female pronouns throughout the article.
Hudson was a man named David.
A man who suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI) in high school -- an injury his own family points to as the start of his struggles. TBIs alter the way our brains work and how we think. People who have TBIs often undergo personality changes, can become emotionally labile, and often struggle to get back to their pre-TBI baseline.
It's highly likely that David's 'gender dysphoria' was driven by this TBI. As was his eventual suicide. Those people who suffer TBIs are 1.55 to 4.05 times more likely to commit suicide than people without such an injury.
So why wasn't David's TBI appropriately treated? Why, instead, was he pushed down the path of 'gender-affirming care' -- care he couldn't afford and care that clearly didn't help him overcome whatever was going on in his head? Was it because of the pervasive trans ideology that infected healthcare (including mental healthcare) for years?
The answer is probably yes. Rather than treating David's mental illness appropriately and medically, it was treated politically.
And then, for the last 10-12 years of his life, he was spoon-fed lies like those by the original poster that he needed 'trans rights' and 'anti-discrimination' laws in order to be fully accepted into society. When the rest of the world didn't adequately affirm him, they were blamed for his untimely death. He was failed by so many people, including the trans community and its so-called tolerant allies -- but not his passengers, his co-workers, or the CTA.
Make no mistake: it's tragic that David Hudson is dead.
It's even more tragic that the system and people who pushed him over the edge will likely never be held accountable.
