Yesterday, a student of Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, Wisconsin walked into a study hall and opened fire. Two people -- a teenaged student and a teacher -- were killed, and six were wounded. As of right now, two of the wounded are in critical condition.
The shooter, now identified as 15-year-old Natalie Rupnow, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound on her way to the hospital.
Before the bodies were even cold, the Left -- including President Joe Biden -- were using the crime to push their gun control agenda.
Joe Biden (or, more accurately, whatever intern drew the short straw yesterday) posted a call to action on his X account:

It’s shocking and unconscionable.
We need Congress to act. Now.
And the White House dusted off the Left's old gun control policy proposals:

Not one of these laws would have prevented the shooting.
Rupnow was 15-years-old, and prohibited from purchasing a firearm. Therefor, she wouldn't have been able to undergo a background check or fall under red-flag laws. The shooting was also carried out with a handgun and not the intentionally vague 'assault rifle' the Left has chosen to demonize.
But that's not really what I'm here to talk about, because those feckless calls for gun control were as predictable as the sun rising in the east.
What I am here to say is, no.
Emphatically, NO.
You Lefties do not get to call for gun control. Not now and not ever again. You forfeited all your rights to call for gun control in the last two weeks and you're never, EVER getting them back.
The first, and most egregious, forfeiture came when President Biden issued a pardon blanket for his son, Hunter. That blanket pardon erased Hunter Biden's gun crimes -- ones that involved lying on a background check form and having his handgun disposed of in a dumpster near the school.
In a press release from January 2023, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms said federal prosecutors (in western Oklahoma, but I'm sure it applies nationally) were 'aggressively' pursuing those who made false statements in connection with purchasing a firearm (emphasis added):
Federal law prohibits knowingly making any false statement in connection with purchasing, or attempting to purchase, a firearm. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) requires prospective firearm buyers to complete ATF Form 4473. This Form requires buyers to answer several questions, including those about the buyer’s competency, criminal history, drug use, immigration status, and history with domestic violence. Applicants who knowingly make false statements may also face criminal prosecution for a felony and up to 10 years in federal prison.
Hunter Biden lied on his background check form. Several witnesses, including Hunter's ex-wife and ex-girlfriend testified about his drug use and behavior in the weeks before he lied on the aforementioned AFT From 4473. Hunter was charged with three felonies: lying to a federally licensed gun dealer, making a false claim on the application by saying he was not a drug user and illegally having the gun for 11 days.
Hallie Biden, widow of Hunter's brother Beau, testified how she found the illegally purchased gun, wrapped it up, and threw it in a trash bin.
Thanks to his daddy, he will face no consequences for those actions.
But tell me more how I need to give up my long gun or my handgun.
The second forfeiture came after UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was gunned down on the streets of NYC earlier this month. A cavalcade of Lefties including panelists on 'The View', Taylor Lorenz, Elizabeth Warren, AOC, and Bernie Sanders all gave the shooting the 'but' treatment.
'Violence is never justified, but...'
What they really mean is: 'Violence, including gun violence, is okay if we don't like the victim or agree with the ideology of the shooter.'
Even Justine Bateman noticed the dearth of gun control talk following Thompson's murder (she wasn't the only one).
If it wasn't so maddening, I'd laugh. It's adorable they have the balls to get on social media and demand I give up my guns because of the actions of one unhinged teenage girl in Wisconsin while the president's son gets to stake on violations of the very same laws they want to subject the rest of us to -- and make increasingly more burdensome and restrictive.
They say the definition of chutzpah is a man who kills his parents and then asks the court for leniency because he's an orphan.
It's also a Democrat president who demands more gun control after pardoning his son's gun crimes while his party cheers on the shooting of a CEO.
