Report: SNL writers may boycott over host Dave Chappelle

The New York Post is reporting that SNL writers are planning to boycott over the upcoming Dave Chappelle episode:

From the article:

There’s unrest at 30 Rock, Page Six hears, over the decision to sign up Dave Chappelle to host “Saturday Night Live” this weekend.

We’re told that some staff writers are so furious that the comedy superstar — who has made transphobic and homophobic jokes — has been chosen to helm the iconic show that they’re sitting out the episode.

“They’re not going to do the show,” an insider told Page Six. “But none of the actors are boycotting.”

But Chappelle’s rep told us that there was nothing to suggest that there was a boycott when they attended writers’ meetings this week.

Must be nice to be able to turn down work in Biden’s economy, and with one of comedy’s biggest stars to boot.

The general consensus seems to be that whatever these writers thought they would be contributing won’t exactly be missed:

It really has been a long time since the show was consistently funny.

Fantastic point…the utter lack of self-awareness is pretty amazing.

They can boycott all they want, but it’s a safe bet that the Chappelle episode will be one of, if not the, highest rated episodes of the season.
