Charlie Crist tweets that the future of Florida is on the line, gets schooled by DeSantis supporters

Florida gubernatorial hopeful Charlie Crist clearly has nothing of substance (or of any real interest to the majority of Florida voters) to run on. Here he is claiming that the future of Florida is on the line, and promising to “fight like hell” to save it:

Save it from what, exactly? Its current status as one of the most free and prosperous states in the Nation?

Twitter users were quick to set him straight:

Comical, and possibly delusional.

It’s not surprising that Crist is resorting to vapid, overused campaign rhetoric. The New York Post reports that a new poll has DeSantis with a double-digit lead:

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has opened a yawning lead over his Democratic rival with just three weeks to go before the Florida gubernatorial election, according to a new poll.

DeSantis, who is seeking a second term, held an 11 point lead over Charlie Crist, the poll from Florida Atlantic University’s Business and Economics Polling Initiative found.

The incumbent enjoyed a 53% approval rating, while 63% of respondents said they approved of DeSantis’ handling of the deadly Hurricane Ian.

When that’s all you’ve got, guess you have to run with it.
