Given his history, it should surprise no one when Van Jones makes racially incendiary remarks. However, he may have found a new low by suggesting similarities between Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., and the Ku Klux Klan.
The fracas started when Jones re-tweeted a tweet implying that Sen. Paul does not object to racism:
Sen. Paul has stated, on libertarian grounds, that it may not be within government’s purview to prevent people from engaging in racism on private property. That, however, doesn’t indicate that he approves of racial discrimination. Whether you agree with the man or not, associating him with a hate group that lynched black Americans is clearly beyond the pale.
Jones later backpedaled a bit, conceding that Paul is not “a hater.”
.@greyone71 @JessieMarkell Rand's no hater like KKK. But his argument – no feds enforcing civil rights on biz – was KKK's position. #SadFact

Jones did not, however, apologize for re-tweeting a hateful person who was clearly accusing Paul of racism.
