From the New York Daily News:
A Washington State woman refused to play dead after a bureaucratic snafu nearly cost her thousands of dollars.
Betty Longshore, a 92-year-old former clerk who lives in Port Angeles, found herself on the phone with the U.S. government earlier this month after her bank called to say it had received a report from the feds she had died.
The report obligated the bank to withdraw nearly $17,000 in retirement benefits from Longshore’s account and return the money to Uncle Sam.
