Anger over release of attacker after 1 year for brutal attack

Galen Bercau was sentenced to five years in prison for the attack on Paris Bradley. She and her mother have been at every court hearing since the attack in March of last year.

They’ve been at every hearing except Wednesday’s where they say a judge changed Bercau’s five year prison sentence to probation.

Most of those crimes carry five year minimum mandatory prison sentences. Bercau pleaded guilty to two of them. He was sentenced to five years in prison. The sentences were to be served concurrently.

“I was kind of shocked. The minimum sentence was 10 years in prison,” said Bradley.
