U.S. Senator Elissa Slotkin appears to be setting up a win-win situation for the Democrat Party in regards to Democrat NYC mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani. She’s comparing him to President Donald Trump. Say what? Slotkin says Mamdani and Trump both won over voters because they share the same campaign message about the economy and the cost of living. Ok, so if Mamdani wins, it’s because he focused on the economy and cost of living but if he fails it’s because he was just like Trump. See how that works?
Have a listen. (WATCH)
Sen Slotkin: Trump and Mamdani both won because of the same campaign message:
— Western Lensman (@WesternLensman) July 23, 2025
“It's hard to miss the same message from the Trump victory is the same message from I think [Mamdani’s] victory, which is cost of living and the economy."
They’re actually going with this. pic.twitter.com/MGYdMuM0DS
Because Trumpdani are the first two politicians that have ever discussed cost of living and the economy.
— Stuck (@StuckInMiddleU) July 23, 2025
This is the dumbest statement of the year. Wow.
— 3rd Degree Byrne (@3rddegreebyrn) July 23, 2025
No one ever accused slotkin of being smart.
— Pierre Delecto (@XennialElder) July 23, 2025
Candidates of opposing parties campaign on the same issues all the time. This is not a revelation by any means.
Posters are frustrated with Slotkin and say her take is being parroted by CNN as well. Look, it’s a team effort!
This t**** makes me want to jump through the screen and shake her until her teeth fall out.
— AppPatriotgirl 🇺🇸 (@jsmith4966) July 23, 2025
This is their 2+2=5 nonsense
— JC Stillwell 💈 🇺🇸 (@JcStillwell) July 23, 2025
They are really pushing the Trump/Mamdani crossover voter thing.
— Western Lensman (@WesternLensman) July 23, 2025
CNN was running segments on it I think yesterday.
I mean they were both savvy enough to use social media and new media to do an end run around the MSM. But aside from that, there is no similarity.
— minimalist1969 (@minimalist2021) July 23, 2025
Yep, they’re trying to find similarities between Mamdani and Trump where none exist, so if he fails, they can wash their hands of him.
Commenters say voters all have shared problems, but only Trump has proposed genuine solutions.
The difference is the solutions they provide for these problems.
— Fake News Filter (@Jdanker22) July 23, 2025
Mamdani wants government-run grocery stores and more government control.
Trump wants less regulation, less government interference.
Mamdani is a socialist
Trump is a capitalist.
One works the other doesn't.
But Trump has always had an executable plan…. Mandami - only to penalize the successful New Yorkers.
— American Male (@Littlem93452684) July 23, 2025
Trump ran on rebuilding the economy.
— Ja’Quevion “J.Q.” Walz (@cryaboutitplz_) July 23, 2025
Mamdani’s running on burning it down and handing out the ashes.
Same message? Respectfully….HELL no.
Insane comparison but I have to give her props for saying it out loud. Dems are just nuts.
— My Patience is wearing thin. (@DebiC37936) July 23, 2025
Of course, they’re nuts. But, Democrats are trying to find ways of dealing with the extreme radical candidates in their party without losing their extreme voters while holding on to their traditional Dem voters nationwide. It’s a balancing act that’s turning out to be harder than they planned.
