The Philosophy of Consolación: Media Matters' strange anti-semite donors

It’s not everyday that one gets to title a post with a reference to Boethius, but this is about Media Matters’ strange menage of bedfellows:

A controversial George Soros-linked gambler and Media Matters donor, Bill Benter, claimed he would never support antisemitism amid a previous controversy back in 2010.

Benter issued a statement claiming that much of his “philanthropic activity over the past several years has focused on preventing war and creating peace through education, scholarship and advocacy, not only in the Middle East but around the world.” “I want to make it absolutely clear, I would never support or condone anti-Semitism in any form,” he said.

At issue then, along with the discovery that J-Street was supported by George Soros despite previous denials, was that fully one half of J-Street’s funding had come from a mystery woman in China, Consolacion Esdicul. She later turned out to be linked to Bill Benter.

Now, a new report by The Daily Caller has again raised suspicions as to whether, or not, Benter was funding an organization, Media Matters, suggested to be antisemitic by Alan Dershowitz. At issue is Media Matters’ foreign policy analyst M J Rosenberg, who’s actions and rhetoric liberal Alan Dershowitz has deemed similar to those associated with neo-Nazi and pro-Hezbollah websites.
