Fuzzy math gets metaphysical: 'The whole is 8. One part is 8. What is the other part?'

Most normal people wouldn’t think of zero as a “part” of 8, but then again,most normal people aren’t in charge of Common Core-aligned math curricula.

Are teachers really inflicting crap like this on young children?

Why, yes. Yes, they are.

So, kids: What is the other part if the whole absorbs the whole? Can something come from nothing? Is it something and nothing at the same time?
