Rep. Trey Radel is a Republican congressman from the Fort Myers/Naples area in Florida.
Yesterday he repeatedly used the hashtag #americafirst in the course of explaining his concerns about a U.S. military strike on Syria:
With #AmericaFirst What is the national security threat to the United States? #syria
— Trey Radel (@treyradel) August 31, 2013
President Obama and his admin will have to convince us how a strike in #syria puts #americafirst.

I am glad to see the Pres come to #Congress on #Syria first. But then again, we shouldn't have to ask or "thank". #americafirst

#democrat #republican #liberal #conservative #UniteBlue or #teaparty – Does a strike in #Syria put #americafirst?

Peter Sullivan is a liberal Democratic state representative from New Hampshire. This afternoon, Rep. Sullivan blasted Radel for using the same language as Nazi sympathizers Charles Lindbergh and Father Charles E. Coughlin:
Florida GOP congresscritter @TreyRadel uses "America First" hashtag to bash Obama. This was slogan of pre-WWII Nazi appeasers @uniteblue #p2
— Peter M. Sullivan (@CitizenSullivan) September 1, 2013
@treyradel Nice try. Why do you use the slogan of discredited clowns like Coughlin and Lindbergh when talking about foreign policy?
— Peter M. Sullivan (@CitizenSullivan) September 1, 2013
Radel’s response:
.@CitizenSullivan I have not made a decision yet, nor have I "bashed" the Pres. You should pay more attention to what's painted on your face
— Trey Radel (@treyradel) September 1, 2013
.@CitizenSullivan Enough of your Nazi references. They're silly. You're better than that if you're an elected official. Show some depth. Bye

We wonder if Rep. Sullivan was equally outraged when the Barack Obama presidential campaign used a Hitler Youth marching tune as a campaign slogan?
