Let’s face it. Health insurers don’t have a good image. Which is why Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban’s opinion that insurers are “too big to care” is fairly typical.
But he doesn’t stop there. Cuban thinks government should step in to fix things.

Because we all know that if you’re looking for an organization that is small and cares about people, the federal government is the first thing that comes to mind.
But why stop at health insurance? Aren’t there other industries with companies that are big?
Why, yes … yes there are:

AT&T too. #Bastards RT @mcuban: Some companies are too big to care. See healthcare insurance carriers. Thats when im ok w gov involvement.

In other words, if we’re going to use Cuban’s “too big to care” criterion, there is an endless list of industries that deserve tougher government regulation, including telecommunications, retail, fast food, and banks.

@mcuban mark, you'll live to regret saying that. Govt involvement in health care is a horrible idea.

Gov't is destroying US healthcare as it destroys most things it touches. Gov't is inherently inefficient/corrupt/incompetent @mcuban

@mcuban How would you like it if they nationalized the NBA like they are health care?
— Patriotic 1 (@OnePatrioticOne) September 1, 2013
Meanwhile, the giant companies @mcuban has been involved with obviously aren't too big to care. Because that's just so.
— Richard McCreedy (@RichMcCreedy) September 1, 2013
@mcuban when people, charities, churches, and companies don't care, we should expect govt involvement. If we care, we take care of our own.

@mcuban just like the IRS, the TSA, and virtually every other gov't involvement? More gov't is almost never the answer

@mcuban Do you actually believe government "cares" about people more than the private sector?
— Kyle Golding (@KyleGolding) September 1, 2013
@mcuban 1/2 I don't trust the government either. Look at the poor care our vets get. I'm surprised the Army doesn't have to put on bake
— Roy from @MTNPod (@roymac75) September 1, 2013
@mcuban 2/2 sales to pay for lost limbs and other war-related ailments. Trusting them to care for the whole country is terrifying to me.

@mcuban @ncolby33 Mark, I worked for ins co… I cared, followed procedures to audit hosp bills, overcharging docs. There r SOME positives
— Debi Staron (@HollywoodDebi) September 1, 2013
@mcuban …that's not to say I think ins co's do everything right. but i caught a lot of flack working hard to do the best job i could.
— Debi Staron (@HollywoodDebi) September 1, 2013
@mcuban @ncolby33 I got 1st class medical care when I was hospitalized for 2 weeks last year, and my total out of pocket was < $3k.
— David Pinsen (@dpinsen) September 1, 2013
Our health insurance co has been there EVERY time for my family and I DO NOT want Gov't involved AT ALL. @mcuban @BelellKaeh @SubsidyHovel
— Bonk (@BonkBowl) September 1, 2013
@mcuban @motherknowsbest govt can't increase competition. Free market can. If they wanted that why not let it cross state borders?
— Neal Colby (@ncolby33) September 1, 2013
Alas, Cuban’s mind seems to be made up:
