Amanda Marcotte accuses Mitt Romney of supporting eugenics

On April 27th, Mitt Romney gave an address at Southern Virginia University. In the course of a 17-minute long speech, Romney mentioned that he thinks college graduates should marry young and have lots of babies.

“If you meet someone you love, get married. Have a quiver-full of kids if you can,” he said.

To sane people, this of course is completely innocuous advice.

But for some on the Left, it was just too much to take.

Columbia University professor Marc Lamont Hill, for example, called Romney a “religious fanatic”:

Amanda Marcotte took the attack one step further, ludicrously accusing Romney of espousing eugenics. Yes, really:

We thought these tweets might be from a parody account, but no. That’s Marcotte’s actual Twitter account.

As Hot Air’s Ed Morrissey said, “There are fanatics in this conversation … but Romney isn’t one of them.”
