— BuzzFeed News (@BuzzFeedNews) February 8, 2013
A lot of Twitter users were understandably alarmed:
Oof, bad timing for this. “@NYCityAlerts: [JFK] staging for a inbound Emerites A380 with brake failure with 305 passengers on board.”

It seems odd that no MSM outlet picked up on the story. (Buzzfeed doesn’t count. They often make stuff up.)
According to two Twitter users, the plane was apparently able to land without any problem:
Source at JFK confirms. No call for assist. Just another day at JFK. RT @danisinthenews @NYCAviation Sounded like the A380 landed safely

From the best I can tell, EK201 landed at JFK without incident. Still trying to dig up more info on (false) brake failure.

This whole “story” smells pretty fishy.
