Liberals enjoy news of Mike Crapo's DUI arrest; Update: Crapo apologizes

As Twitchy noted earlier this evening, Sen. Mike Crapo, R-Idaho, was arrested earlier today for Driving Under the Influence.

Not surprisingly, many liberal tweeters were pleased to hear the news.

hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. RT @blakehounshell: So does Crapo, busted for drunk driving, step down?

Crapo's a Mormon? Oh that makes it even sweeter. Republican hypocrites are so entertaining when they're not destroying countries.

Many liberal tweeters noted that Crapo is a Mormon who apparently said in the past that he abstains from alcohol. Thus, in addition to his legal problems, Crapo is also guilty of rank hypocrisy:

Flashback: Crapo might seem an unlikely person to be pushing a bill to cut taxes on beermakers. He abstains from alcohol http://t.co/RCnzC4w5

F'ing hypocrits suck! "@BuzzFeedBen: Crapo, incidentally, is a Mormon, so it's kind of double trouble http://t.co/wsKmC2i9"

As an added gift to the Left, the story is sure to get extra attention because of Crapo’s last name:

Holy Crapo! http://t.co/NApQf7M1

What is it with Idaho Senators, anyway?

Senators from Idaho. Well, it's better than getting caught tapping your foot in Morse code in a Minneapolis men's… http://t.co/yNd5yjU7

Clarification: CNBC reporter Jane Wells, who is quoted above, is not a liberal.

I'm not liberal, just trying to get past the name. “@TwitchyTeam: Liberals enjoy news of Mike Crapo's DUI arrest http://t.co/Q5b1hhFF”

Update: Crapo issues an apology:

“I am deeply sorry for the actions that resulted in this circumstance,” Crapo said. “I made a mistake for which I apologize to my family, my Idaho constituents and any others who have put their trust in me. I accept total responsibility and will deal with whatever penalty comes my way in this matter.

“I will also undertake measures to ensure that this circumstance is never repeated.”
