Oops: Sen. Chuck Schumer mangles Farm Bill tweet

If the price of milk doubled, wouldn’t that be good for middle-class dairy farmers?

Some of Schumer’s Twitter followers were understandably confused:

Schumer later clarified he was talking about the  impact on middle-class families, not middle-class farmers:

That makes much more sense, but why would the price of milk double only for middle-class families? What about upper-class families, lower-class families, and individuals of all incomes?

For that matter, where is it written that the price of milk must be controlled by the government? Why not let the market determine such things?

Finally, if low food prices are so desirable, why is Congress propping up the price of sugar and other agricultural products?
