Britain hopes tonight will belong to Mo Farah

Great Britain has never won a gold medal in the 10,000 meters at the Olympics. Tonight, Mo Farah hopes to change that.

Born in Somalia, Farah has lived in Britain since the age of 8.

He won the 5,000 meters at the World Championships last year.

Tonight, all of Britain will be cheering him on:

“Athletics is the number one event in the Olympics, and running is the number one discipline,” Farah’s manager and agent, Ricky Simms, told The Independent. “For a guy as popular as Mo to win a gold on home soil in the Olympics Stadium… well, it would just be remarkable. Just as Usain Bolt became world famous in Beijing, this will be Mo’s platform.”

Farah will face stiff competition from a number of runners, including defending champ Kenenisa Bekele of Ethiopia and Galen Rupp of the United States.
