As Twitchy reported, Judicial Watch recently obtained a damning email sent by White House deputy national security adviser Ben Rhodes, confirming long-held suspicions about the Obama administration’s strategy for dealing with the Benghazi attacks:

When it comes to White House press secretary Jay Carney’s handling of bombshells, we don’t expect much in terms of effective damage control. Or competence, for that matter. But at this afternoon’s press briefing, he managed to out-Carney himself:

Meet Jay Carney, intellectual contortionist:

"It was explicitly not about Benghazi," Jay Carney says of newly released Rhodes emails.
— Brian Hughes (@BrianHughesATL) April 30, 2014
.@PressSec says newly released 2012 e-mail to Susan Rice "was specifically not about Benghazi," but about protests throughout Muslim world.
— Mark Knoller (@markknoller) April 30, 2014
RT @StevenTDennis: Carney says new Rhodes email wasn't released earlier because it was "explicitly not about Benghazi"
— Jim Acosta (@Acosta) April 30, 2014
“Explicitly not about Benghazi,” huh? Could’ve fooled us:

Carney says Rhodes WH email was not about Benghazi. But email came to light in court case in response to subpoena for docs on Benghazi.

Amazing.

What? RT @FreeBeacon: "It was explicitly not about Benghazi," Jay Carney says of newly released Rhodes emails.
— Guy Benson (@guypbenson) April 30, 2014
Shorter Carney: "Those emails, about Rice's Benghazi talking points, were not about Benghazi."

Jay Carney is Vox-splaining the Rhodes talking points right now

Carney wasn’t finished:
Jay Carney refusing to acknowledge that his false claims about #Benghazi were false, despite abundant evidence.
— Stephen Hayes (@stephenfhayes) April 30, 2014
Carney repeating that "spontaneous protests/video" was "best available intel" at the time. Morell testified that was not the case.
— Guy Benson (@guypbenson) April 30, 2014
Bill Plante asks Carney about Mike Morell's testimony before Congress and Carney cuts him off. Morell contradicts WH claim on video directly
— Stephen Hayes (@stephenfhayes) April 30, 2014
But Carney and the Admin KNEW it was not a protest in Benghazi. They were USING regional protests as a COVER for a KNOWN terrorist act.

A joke: 'Bringing to justice those who killed four Americans." Yeah, get right on that, Jay. #Benghazi
— Melissa Mackenzie (@MelissaTweets) April 30, 2014
Carney talks about bringing killers to justice. 20 months, 0 arrests.
— Guy Benson (@guypbenson) April 30, 2014
Carney also lashed out at those who have questioned the administration’s conduct:
Carney now decrying politicization of Benghazi. So, so rich.
— Guy Benson (@guypbenson) April 30, 2014
Oh, now Carney says that there's attempts to politicize Benghazi. Uh, the admin creating political talking points made it POLITICAL.
— Melissa Mackenzie (@MelissaTweets) April 30, 2014
Now Jay Carney is saying that people are trying to politicize the political decision to blame the Benghazi attack on a video, falsely.
— RBe (@RBPundit) April 30, 2014
Now Carney blaming the media for "over twenty stories that were false" and left uncorrected. He is RIDICULOUS. #Benghazi
— Melissa Mackenzie (@MelissaTweets) April 30, 2014
Creating politically appealing talking points on 9/11 terrorist act before a political election seems to be politicizing #Benghazi.

Carney expects us to swallow this crap? Please.
Sounds like @PressSec ate an extra helping of Wheaties for Liars this morning.
— Drew McCoy (@_Drew_McCoy_) April 30, 2014
Jay Carney spewing an impressive amount of spin today. Really, this kind of shamelessness has to be at least saluted.
— Ed Morrissey (@EdMorrissey) April 30, 2014
There's a point at which an administration gets so used to lying and getting away with it that it loses its sense of what works.
— Charles C. W. Cooke (@charlescwcooke) April 30, 2014
Yep. Carney’s become trapped in his own web of lies. It’s all he knows now. And it’s only going to get worse.

With regard to this tweet:
@PressSec says @rhodes44 email not released bc "explicitly not about Benghazi." It has section entitled "Benghazi" pic.twitter.com/SP3c5MynS6
— jonkarl (@jonkarl) April 30, 2014
ABC News’ Jonathan Karl has posted a clarification:
Clarification – the Benghazi section I posted was not part of the Rhodes “re: PREP CALL with Susan” email. This was: pic.twitter.com/LPTKaiJW4u
— jonkarl (@jonkarl) April 30, 2014
And just for the record:
WH says email was part of JW suit seeking Benghazi emails bc of that one reference, but insists the rest was not about Benghazi
