Bulwark continues to stay above Trumpy fray with new hit on 'the pudding fingers guy in the white boots'

Maybe my memory's a bit fuzzy, but I could have sworn that when The Bulwark first launched, Bill Kristol and Co.'s "conserving conservatism" mission would include standing as a bulwark against Donald Trump and everything Trump stands for. Stuff like his penchant for juvenile insults lobbed at anyone and everyone who even looked at him sideways.

Donald Trump was a man-child so lacking in creativity and intelligence that he was literally incapable of engaging in mature political discourse. Unlike The Bulwark, who was so far above all of that, they were practically floating around somewhere in the stratosphere.

Of course, as time went on, it became increasingly clear that The Bulwark wasn't so much interested in calling out Donald Trump's immaturity as they were in engaging in their own special brand of immaturity. And here's just the most recent example supporting that contention:

Jonathan Last's piece is behind a paywall. What a shame. So I guess I won't have a chance to see what other gems he came up with to hit Ron DeSantis. But that's OK. I feel like that tweet probably gives a pretty good idea as to what you're in for if you're actually desperate enough to pay for a Bulwark subscription.

The Daily Beast's dumbass scoop on Ron DeSantis purportedly eating pudding with three fingers was stupid back when it first dropped, and any serious person knew that it was stupid. Which would explain why the chronically unserious Bulwark would dust it off for their own dumbass hit job.

And then The Bulwark managed to work in a reference to DeSantis' boots, which for some weird reason liberals and Resistance warriors are obsessed with. And what's the issue with DeSantis' voice? Is it not whispery enough or angry enough?

The swipe at DeSantis' temperament is another weird one, too, not just because DeSantis has demonstrated plenty of times that he's willing to engage with people (even if those people are unpleasant), but also because The Bulwark's beloved Joe Biden has literally challenged people who have questioned him to pushup contests, insulted their intelligence, body-shamed them, and screamed at reporters. As far as I've seen, Ron DeSantis hasn't done that.

But here's Jonathan Last and The Bulwark taking the most desperate of desperate shots at Ron DeSantis. I wonder if Last referred to DeSantis as "Rob DeSanctimonious" or "Meatball Ron" in his article. I wouldn't be even the slightest bit surprised.

That's the thing, isn't it? The Bulwark's entire existence was predicated on defeating Trumpism and rejecting the worst aspects of Donald Trump. But they've become everything they claimed to hate about him.

Let's be honest: The Bulwark has failed at much more than derogatory humor. They've failed at life. And, God-willing, when Donald Trump is finally pushed out of the presidential picture — either by Ron DeSantis or someone else — The Bulwark will have nothing left but a legacy of abject failure.
