What a long, strange week it’s been. And it’s only Wednesday.
This past Sunday, author J.K. Rowling deftly dealt with an angry trans activist with just two words:

But then things really heated up when actor Mark Hamill — Luke Skywalker himself — clicked the little “like” heart on Rowling’s tweet. For that egregious offense, he temporarily became Public Enemy No. 2 among radical trans activists, until he ultimately caved to pressure and attempted to walk back his like by insisting that what he actually liked was the people who were piling on him for liking Rowling’s tweet.
What I "liked" about this exchange was someone speaking their truth to power. Twitter is, unfortunately, no place for nuance.
It's imperative I make this abundantly clear: I support human rights for EVERYONE, regardless of their gender identity, PERIOD. https://t.co/eqQxuaZiss— Mark Hamill (@MarkHamill) January 24, 2023
Yeah, we don’t get it, either. Not that it matters either way to Rowling, who remains as steadfast as ever in her commitment to defending women and womanhood from those who seek to erase them. Feel free to hit the the “like” button on this tweet from her today:
Men defining what a woman is, what women should and shouldn’t fear, what women should and shouldn’t say, what rights women should be fine with giving up and, of course, what constitutes ‘real’ misogyny: get a bloody mirror. That’s real misogyny, looking right back at you.

Though there’s little overlap between our politics and Rowling’s, we can appreciate and respect her refusal to back down even in the face of vicious comments and threats of violence or death. The woman’s got guts, and she puts her money where her mouth is. We genuinely love to see it.
This could have been written in the 1970s. That it needs to be said in 2023, that it is controversial, and that any women disagree is troubling @jk_rowling https://t.co/AnJ6uQXUFH

This. In a nutshell.
You sign up to this? You are signing up to misogyny. And we will not accept this hatred of the female sex. https://t.co/bRqfDn1Yih

Women truly couldn’t find a stauncher advocate than J.K. Rowling.
