American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten is not just a bad person; she’s also a terrible person.
So it makes sense that she’d be very upset about Democratic New York City mayoral candidate Kathryn Garcia.
Garcia, you see, has made increasing the number of and empowering charter schools a part of her platform, and Randi Weingarten is incredibly disappointed:
I’m incredibly disappointed to see Kathryn Garcia go this route with charters. She’s embraced the unacceptable policy of lifting the charter cap in NYC. Now.. Two minutes be4 early voting starts. Wondering why? . https://t.co/QIEhMtuLkM

It’s not really a mystery as to why. Randi knows why.
It’s because charter schools give parents and children an alternative to the crappy public schools that Randi Weingarten helps to perpetuate and worsen. Unless, of course, Weingarten can use those charter schools to her advantage:

Huh.
Good for her. I’m sorry your failures are upsetting to you, but they’re much more harmful to children.

Randi Weingarten’s disappointment is our absolute pleasure.
"Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams, former city sanitation commissioner Kathryn Garcia and entrepreneur Andrew Yang — all of whom have hit first place in recent polls — have pledged to allow for the creation of more charters"
Good for them!

You wonder why Ms. Garcia supports lifting the cap? There is a huge demand for school choice in NYC (52K on charter school wait lists). Now more than ever after you & others spent the past year blocking kids from the classroom. Low-income kids hurt the most. Never again. https://t.co/kCVrXxUke8

oh no someone is siding with families instead of the union how unacceptable! 😱👻 https://t.co/Q8VYa6EMPC

Charter schools help students and give parents real options. Which must be why you oppose them. https://t.co/c5TQq3NTxx

Funny how the unions want a “cap” on the enrollment of school options that they don’t control.
Parents are begging to get in. Unions won’t let them. Why?
Power. Control. That’s all the unions want. https://t.co/anhpKuphBb

Your reminder that teacher's unions don't care about what's best for your child https://t.co/sik8OlXqjE

We can’t remember the last time they did.
